Dr. Erika Wagner is a major player in the field of commercial space ventures. The Business Development Manager for Blue Origin –Jeff Bezos’ company devoted to developing vehicles and technologies to enable human space transportation–she is a well-spoken thought leader who’s passionate about human space flight.

Her deep background in space exploration, aerospace medicine, biomedical engineering, small satellite development, program management, and business innovation informs Erika’s speaking programs.

Erika has served as Senior Director of Exploration Prize Development for the X Prize Foundation and founding Executive Director of X Prize Lab at MIT, where she built the Lab from the ground up. Also at MIT, she served as Science and Executive Director of the Mars Gravity Biosatellite Program, investigating the physiological effects of reduced gravity. From 2009 to 2012 her focus was on commercial suborbital launch vehicles as a member of the Commercial Spaceflight Federation’s suborbital Applications Research Group.

Further, she developed and managed a collaborative initiative between MIT and the X PRIZE Foundation and enabled interdisciplinary faculty and student engagement around new prize definition and the role of prizes in fostering innovation.

Erika now serves on multiple national and state science and aerospace boards, bringing her interdisciplinary background and education, which includes a bachelor’s in Biomedical Engineering, a master’s in Aeronautics and Astronautics, and a PhD in Bioastronautics. She is also an alumna of the International Space University.
